The purpose of Deaf, Deaf World is to act as a simulation for living in the real world as a deaf person.
It's like a game. Participants are given sheets to fill out as they complete tasks. Tables are set up around the room, each a different station representing a real-world institution/situation. For example, a participant may have to go to the bank and ask for a loan. Once they complete a station they are given points. Those with the highest number of points at the end of the night receive a prize.
The catch is that there can be no speaking. The goal of every participant and volunteer is to solely use non-verbal communication. This allows participants to get a glimpse into the deaf world.
